Big Life

“It’s through our flaws we shine.” - William Blake

This powerful new work explores struggle, potency and the inexhaustible richness of the inner life. Rollercoaster, a group of talented young performers with disabilities, have devised this exploration into the myriad of ways we can access strength within. Big Life touches on the experience of not quite being seen, and on the powerful release that occurs when finally we become visible to others and to ourselves. With humour, verve and wicked insight, Big Life is a journey through the underworld of the imagination.

Devised and performed by the Rollercoaster ensemble.

Directed and facilitated  by Sarah Sutherland and Jess Huon

Acknowledgement of Country

As storytellers, we acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation, the traditional owners of the land we gather on. We’re grateful to create on this land, knowing storytelling has been part of its history for thousands of years. It has held cultures and communities long before us, and we honour the strength, wisdom, and resilience of Elders who continue to care for it today. We recognise the impact of colonisation and the absence of a treaty, and we commit to amplifying the voices of First Nations peoples and working towards truth, justice, and reconciliation. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
