Gawk

Perched high above Federation Square, the Rollercoaster ensemble commands attention in magnificent costumes, with their images projected on the Federation Square screen. Inspired by an episode of Doctor Who, they paint eyes on their hands and confront onlookers, challenging audiences to examine their own attitudes toward people with disabilities.

Acknowledgement of Country

As storytellers, we acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation, the traditional owners of the land we gather on. We’re grateful to create on this land, knowing storytelling has been part of its history for thousands of years. It has held cultures and communities long before us, and we honour the strength, wisdom, and resilience of Elders who continue to care for it today. We recognise the impact of colonisation and the absence of a treaty, and we commit to amplifying the voices of First Nations peoples and working towards truth, justice, and reconciliation. Always was, always will be Aboriginal land.
